The Jazz Kings culminate their year-long salute to great film musicals on a high note with a tribute to the studio whose name is synonymous with the movie musical—Metro Goldwyn Mayer. From 1942 to 1958, the legendary "Freed Unit" (spearheaded by producer and lyricist Arthur Freed) at MGM produced some of the finest musicals ever created for film, and in the process catapulted performers like Gene Kelly and Judy Garland to super-stardom. The films of the Freed Unit—including memorable shows like Singin’ in the Rain, Easter Parade, Meet Me In St. Louis, and Gigi—rank not only among the greatest musicals, but the greatest American films of all time! The Jazz Kings invite you to join in the fun as they present some of the most beloved celluloid contributions to the Great American Songbook.
