Take a single session, take in an entire weekend! Directed by internationally-renowned clarinetist Ken Peplowski, The Shedd Institute's annual Jazz Party brings together a select group of exceptional jazz masters for 3 jam-packed days of straight-ahead mainstream jazz of the highest order. The 2nd annual Jazz Party at The Shedd offers 5 sessions from Friday night, March 7th through Sunday mid-afternoon, March 9th.
As with last year, Ken has created a mix of small to medium ensembles that allows everyone to open up. Every session has its own feel and special features, from the opening night battle of the saxophones to the Sunday morning brunch. weekend. It will be another extraordinary weekend of music.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Jazz Party 2009 will be comprised of 5 sessions over 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 7-9, at The John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts in Eugene, Oregon. The Friday and Saturday night sessions each 4 hours, with 4 to 5 sets apiece. Saturday & Sunday sessions run for 3.
SINGLE SESSIONS & PARTY PASS. The 5 sessions are ticketed individually at 3 levels: Gold, Red & Youth (18 & younger), with prices as indicated below. Gold & Red: purchase the 5 sessions package for a 15% discount and preferred seating. SEATING. The main floor of The Shedd Institute’s Jaqua Concert Hall is age 21+ with bar, with cabaret seating up front (accessible to Gold patrons only) and general admission row seating in back (accessible to 21+ Red patrons too). The reserved seating balcony is accessible to all patrons, including Youth. The Sunday Jazz Brunch is on the main floor (which is all ages for this event only) and there is no bar. The hall has superb acoustics and is quite intimate: every seat is a winner. Reserved cabaret seating for Gold package purchasers is available on request.
