Of the 1,540 feature-length films released by Hollywood studios between 1939 and ’45, over half (818) were in some way related to the war. Some, like 1942’s Casablanca, are classics; others were, well, really bad; and most – even the awful ones – featured one or more fabulous songs.
For this afternoon concert, Jesse Cloninger and the Emerald City jazz Kings offer up a set of our absolute favorites from these years, including “As Time Goes By”, “I’ll Walk Alone”, “Besame Mucho”, “Cow-Cow Boogie”, “Blues In The Night”, “White Christmas”, “Swinging On A Star”, and more!
