Is The Phantom Of The Opera an opera or a musical? What about Gilbert & Sullivan’s classics like The Pirates Of Penzance? Both opera and musical theater companies have put on successful productions of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd and Into The Woods. Last June, soprano Phoebe Gildea and pianist Nathalie Fortin took you on a journey through the similarities between operas and musicals by comparing the two directly. Now, they will continue the exploration, but this time by walking through the borderlands, down that blurry line that separates the two genres. The program will include music from West Side Story, Street Scene, The Phantom Of The Opera, Into The Woods, and more!
