Considered by many to be the greatest musical of all time, Gypsy is based on the memoirs of burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee and the tumultuous relationship she and her sister, actress June Havoc, had with their mother Rose Thompson Hovick. It is the classic tale of a tenacious and driven stage mother’s fight for her daughters’ success in a business she herself had not been allowed to pursue.
