Considered by many to be the greatest musical of all time, Gypsy is based on the memoirs of burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee and the tumultuous relationship she and her sister, actress June Havoc, had with their mother Rose Thompson Hovick. It is the classic tale of a tenacious and driven stage mother’s fight for her daughters’ success in a business she herself had not been allowed to pursue. The show explores the disappearing world of 1920s-30s vaudeville and burlesque with artful humor, heart, and sophistication and is filled with glorious songs like “Let Me Entertain You”, “You Gotta Have A Gimmick”, “Together, Wherever We Go”, “Small World”, “Some People” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”.
