Lynnea Barry and the Jazz Kings welcome Vanessa Greenway, Dylan Stasack and Broder Foshay for an evening from the extraordinary songbook of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, from 1925's "Manhattan" to 1943's "To Keep My Love Alive" and a choice selection of the host of classics in between: "My Heart Stood Still", "Thou Swell", "The Lady Is A Tramp", "Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered", "My Funny Valentine", "Isn't It Romantic" and so many more.
"Most people today," Lynnea writes, "are very familiar with Richard Rodgers’ work with his second songwriting partner, Oscar Hammerstein II, through their legendary musicals starting with Oklahoma! in 1943 through their final musical together, The Sound of Music in 1959. We are less familiar with Rodgers’ work with his first partner, Lorenz Hart, with whom, between 1925 and 1943 (the year Hart died), he wrote over 35 stage and film musicals containing a huge number of unforgettable songbooks classics.
"Rodgers and Hart's music is known for its wit, sophistication, and timeless appeal. Their songs are characterized by clever lyrics, memorable melodies, and a sense of style and glamour that has made them enduring favorites. I hope that you will enjoy hearing these timeless songs brought to life by the Emerald City Jazz Kings!"
