Michael Anderson and microphilharmonic return to The Shedd Institute's art music roots with a program featuring music from late 19th and early 20th century New England. The evening begins with Horatio Parker's 1904 Suite for Piano Trio; Amy Beach's 1929 String Quartet in One Movement follows; and our evening ends with two works from Charles Ives, a chamber orchestra reading of Ives' monumental Symphony No 3, The Camp Meeting (1909-10). and an arrangement for wind ensemble by Michael Anderson of Ives' 1891 Variation on "America" for organ.
This concert is eligible for The Shedd's Free Shedd Classical Tickets for Youth program, which makes a free ticket to select 2022-23 Shedd Classical concerts available to students high school and younger. The program is made possible by support from Shedd benefactors dedicated to exposing young people to the European art music tradition in all its forms. Contact The Shedd Ticket Office for information. Usually, youth high school and younger received a 25-35% discount on most Shedd shows.
