Miguel is an Oregon based percussionist who has been playing since he was 13. While he is pursuing a Music Education degree at the University of Oregon, he strives to become a better performer in all genres of music. He has played with every large ensemble at the University of Oregon including Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra. He also plays in the Oregon Marching Band and serves as the bass drum section leader for the drumline. Along with playing drums, Miguel plays piano and writes music in his free time.
Music is a language that everybody has the ability to speak. I believe that lessons should be tailored to the individual's needs and learning pace instead of a set curriculum. Different types and genres of music will be taught to expand the student’s ears to new experiences. Music is a language that does not discriminate, so I feel comfortable with teaching people of all ages.
