International multi-talented artist Jay Españo debuts with The Shedd Institute, reprising his favorite role for the fourth time (Chicago, Phoenix & Canada). Jay has worked extensively around the Asian region in more than 60 productions and also dabbled in film and television, guesting on most of the southeast Asian English TV shows.
A Musical Theater graduate of Lasalle College of The Arts in Singapore, he collaborated and directed shows for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in Profokiev’s Peter and The Wolf; the Philharmonic Orchestra Singapore in Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale; Singapore Dance Theater’s The Colours of Ballet; and wrote/directed 2 original children’s musicals The Lion And The Mouse and Pearl In The Jungle for Acts of Life.
In 2008 he represented Singapore and won 2 silver medals for acting and singing at the World Championship of Performing Arts(WCOPA) in Hollywood, USA. Recently, he completed his Graduate Laban-Certificate in Movement Analysis (GL-CMA) at Columbia College Chicago.
