Sam Taylor is a trumpet player and educator from Amityville, New York, currently completing a Master’s in Performance at The University of Oregon, where he serves as the Trumpet Studio Graduate Employee and studies with Miki Sasaki. Prior to moving to Oregon, Sam completed a Bachelor’s in Music Education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied with Billy Hunter, Michael Martin, and David Hickman. As a performer, Sam has played in groups of varied genres in and out of school, including the University of Texas Wind Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, and Opera Orchestra, the University of Oregon Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, the Newport Symphony Orchestra, and the Mostly Modern Festival Orchestra. Sam is also very passionate about music education and enjoys teaching and studying music learning. When he’s not playing or teaching Sam loves to cook, read, and visit art museums.
