"How High the Moon", "Embraceable You", "Pennies From Heaven", "I'll Be Seeing You", and more: join saxophonist Joe Manis as he gives these wonderful American classics an imaginative new twist. The Shedd welcomes back The Joe Manis Trio, with Manis on tenor saxophone and Portland luminaries Dave Captein on bass and Todd Strait on drums, for another concert of arrangements for the classic jazz trio.
Manis is quickly creating a strong presence in the Northwest jazz scene with the strength of his "intense, updated take on the glorious Rollins-'Trane tradition." (Willamette Week) Manis's debut album, Evidence, gained the Trio notice: the Eugene Weekly enthused: "Fabulous... Will thrill fans of Monk, Rollins." The Joe Manis Trio was featured at the 2010 and 2011 PDX Jazz Festivals. Oregon Music News wrote: "Fresh and diverse... Manis led the Trio with a veteran's touch."
