"It's been rumored that the Great American Songbook is making a comeback. As far as I'm concerned, it never left.”
-John Pizzarelli
John Pizzarelli oozes charm with every riff he plays and every note he croons. It's that old school magnetism, along with his masterful musicianship, that has kept the guitarist and singer a fixture in the American jazz scene for nearly 30 years. Celebrated for his take on the American songbook, he has re-imagined the works of timeless greats like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Richard Rodgers, adding his own contemporary flavour to established hits. Over his decades of serenading the masses, he has played the role of both bandleader, with his John Pizzarelli Trio, and solo artist, collaborating with an impressive list that includes James Taylor, Rosemary Clooney, Natalie Cole and Sir Paul McCartney. His adventures in swing, jazz, pop and bossa nova have brought his act to stages across the world, and on Broadway. Pizzarelli’s latest recording endeavor Double Exposure intertwines pop songs from his generation into classic jazz arrangements, taking his musical homage to new territory.
We think it's time for John Pizzarelli to be back at The Shedd, so here you go!
