Films in the competition cover topics as diverse as traditional Malaysian craftsmen, medieval Persian music, ancient Alpine salt mines, the putative family tomb of Jesus, Irish bog bodies, Roman aqueducts, Indian elephant drivers, and spectacular California rock art.
