Marin Alsop is joined by guest pianist Leslie Stifelman, Mark O’Connor, David Rimelis, and a special Festival Orchestra for an exploration and celebration of the history of American fiddle and song. In addition to conducting the original version of Copland’s Appalachian Spring, a set of Foster songs, and O’Connor’s Strings & Threads, Alsop will take up the violin herself and join O’Connor in a rousing and insightful survey of the history and styles of fiddling in America.
