The Shedd welcomes Jimbo Mathus and Squirrel Nut Zippers who stop at Jaqua Concert Hall Saturday, March 10 on tour in support of their first album in 18 years, Beasts of Burgundy. Formed in 1993, the Squirrel Nut Zippers eclectic fusion of Delta blues, gypsy jazz, 1930s–era swing, and klezmer makes them hard to categorize, but their unique sound garnered national recognition and commercial success. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their most popular recording Hot, the North Carolina ensemble’s visionary creator Jimbo Mathus has crafted a brand new stage show, enlisting several leading musicians from New Orleans to help serve up its distinctive musical flavor.
