This year's ever-popular historic venue dinner-dance will feature Steve Stone & the Emerald City Jazz Kings and The Dick Hyman Quintet in an evening of the best hot dance music and jazz of the 1920s and '30s. Following the buffet dinner catered by West Brothers, the evening will be comprised of 3 full sets, each representing an important dance-jazz milieu of the period: (1) “Live From Roseland, 1925-29” – The Emerald City Jazz Kings salute Fletcher Henderson Orchestra’s golden years of live radio broadcast from the Roseland Ballroom. (2) “At the Onyx Club, 1935-1944” – The Dick Hyman Quintet (with Frank Capp, Michael Moore, Byron Stripling, and Frank Kenney) takes us forward in time to one of the most famous jazz clubs on 52nd Street during the 1930s and ‘40s…kick back to the cool-hot sounds of Dizzie Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Coleman Hawkins, and Art Tatum. (3) “See You at Glen Island!”, 1930-35 – The Jazz Kings resume the stage with the hot-mellow sound of the Casa Loma Orchestra during the years they played the Glen Island Casino. It will be a hot night with plenty of dancing and good listening. Prizes will be awarded for the best period costumes! Tables of 6 or 8 may be reserved through the Hult Ticket Office with a group ticket purchase.
