Released in 1945, Anchors Aweigh tells the story of two sailors on a four-day shore leave in Hollywood (Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra), who meet a young boy and his aunt, an aspiring young singer, and try to help her get an audition at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. In a live-action/animated fantasy sequence, Kelly dances with Jerry Mouse, the cartoon mouse of the Tom and Jerry series, and Tom Cat has a brief cameo appearance. The largely derivative soundtrack includes "Anchors Aweigh" (1904), "The Donkey Serenade" (1923), "If You Knew Susie" (1925), "(All Of A Sudden) My Heart Sings" (1942), and a handful of songs written for the film by staff writers Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn.
