One of the first 25 films selected by the United States Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant", M-G-M's 1952 musical comedy masterpiece Singin' In The Rain follows the story of four Hollywood actors during the industry's tumultous transition from silence to sound during the late 1920s. The film was conceived by M-G-M's legendary film musical producer Arthur Freed, who enlisted veteran librettists Betty Comden and Adolph Green and drew upon M-G-M's catalog of truly exceptional songs he and co-songwriter Nacio Herb Brown wrote for the studio during those formative years and up through the 1940s, including "You Were Meant For Me", "Beautiful Girl", "Would You?", "All I Do Is Dream of You", and, of course, "Singin' In The Rain". It's hard to ever tire of this classic!
