One of the few jazz clarinetists who can unashamedly be mentioned in the same breath as legends like Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw, Ken Peplowski returns to The Shedd after a triumphant turn with the Dick Hyman Band during OFAM 2005, assisted by members of our own Emerald City Jazz Kings in a program that will explore the history of Big Band jazz (in “94 minutes and 32 seconds”, according to Ken!) from its beginnings to the present day. Ken has been a featured performer with the American Jazz Orchestra and has performed regularly in New York's major clubs such as the Blue Note, Fat Tuesday's, Eddie Condon's and Jimmy Walker's. He has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Peplowski's own group performs on a regular basis at J's on 97th and Broadway in New York City. We proudly welcome back our favorite clarinetist for yet another stellar, swingin’ show!
